Highlights
Your AMAPCEO Bargaining Team and the College of Midwives Employer have reached a tentative agreement on a first contract to run until March 31, 2028.
Your bargaining team was able to secure every item in the bargaining mandate, and are unanimously recommending ratification.
The following is a summary of highlights only.
Term
A three-year contract from April 1, 2025 until March 31, 2028.
Salary increases & classifications
Across-the-board salary increases of 2.75% effective April 1, 2025 (applied retroactively), 2.75% effective April 1, 2026, and 2.5% effective April 1, 2027.
Annual merit increases of 1% to 3%, with 2% for satisfactory performances. Previous practices varied from none to 2%.
Additional increases to salary ranges for three classification levels:
- The salary range increase includes significant improvements to the Coordinator classification level. Coordinators will see a minimum immediate increase of $8,764 on ratification of the contract, factoring in these changes, ATBs, and merit.
- Factoring in these changes, Across the Boards, and Merit, the lowest-paid member of the unit will see a 15% increase to their salary.
Pensions
A major win in this tentative agreement is the introduction of an employee pension. The employer will contribute 6% of the net salary over a three year period with employees automatically contributing 4% in 2025, 5% in 2026, and 6% in 2027 to phase them into the program.
The employer will maintain its 6% contribution to RRSPs whilst the Pension Plan is being implemented.
Improvements to benefits
Upon ratification, each employee will be entitled to:
- Ten paid sick days per fiscal year: sick days can also be used to support immediate family members.
- Short Term Disability Coverage: 100% of the premiums will be paid by the employer.
- Pregnancy and Parental Leave: this will be formally codified into the agreement.
Work/life balance wins
The tentative agreement will codify:
- Remote work: remote work will be guaranteed for the length of the agreement
- Overtime: there will be employer approved overtime pay for work in excess of 37.5 hour work week
- Severance: Recall rights will remain in place for 24 months, after which there will be 2 weeks per year of service
- Job Security: The Employer must inform AMAPCEO of the introduction or implementation of artificial intelligence technologies which may impact the working conditions of the bargaining unit.
