Marked as an official day by the Parliament of Canada in 1991, the National Day of Mourning occurs yearly on April 28. A deeply somber occasion for workers, unions and labour organizations across Canada, this day is dedicated to remembering and honouring lives lost or injured due to a workplace tragedy.
How can you support the National Day of Mourning?
By lighting candles, laying wreaths to holding or supporting an event, there are many ways to support the National Day of Mourning. The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety encourages the public to observe a moment of silence at 11am on April 28.
