AMAPCEO supports requests from Districts to make donations to organizations and initiatives in their districts and local communities.
AMAPCEO's Board of Directors established a policy that allocates $2,000 for community donations for each District and $1000 allotments for each Community within a district. For example, a District with no Communities has a $2000 allotment while a District with three Communities has access to a total of $3,000 ($1,000 per community).
AMAPCEO will consider proposals for donations to organizations or events, particularly those that are in keeping with the union's mission and values—in particular, our commitment to public services, trade unionism, fairness, and equity.
Organizations or initiatives do not necessarily have to be registered charities or incorporated not-for-profits to be considered.
However, AMAPCEO does not provide donations to organizations or events that are not in keeping with AMAPCEO's mission and values, religious in nature (though, primarily cultural initiatives will be considered), or are partisan political events. Ultimately, AMAPCEO's Executive Committee decides which donation proposals to approve.
For more information, please review the District / Community Donations Policy.
Step 1 – District Engagement
Contact your District Director and Executive if you have an idea for an organization or initiative to which to donate and seek their support in applying for a community donation.
District Executives should approve and submit proposals for a community donation at least five days before the October meeting of the AMAPCEO Executive Committee.
Step 2 – Apply
Complete AMAPCEO's online application form, below.
All donation proposals should be for a minimum of $250.
Step 3 – Review
After you or someone on your District Executive has submitted your proposal, AMAPCEO staff will review it and may request additional information. Be sure to provide as much information on the application form as possible, particularly as it relates to information about proposed recipient organization or how to contact them.
Step 4 – Executive Committee
The Executive Committee will consider your proposal at the next opportunity. Proposals should come to the Executive Committee with District Executive endorsement no later than five days before its October meeting.
Factors the Executive Committee will consider include:
The Executive Committee may also, at its discretion, decide whether to vary the amount of the donation.
Step 5 – Outcome
AMAPCEO staff via the President's Office will contact you about proposal's approval, and staff will work with your District to ensure payment arrangements are made. Districts are expected to make direct contact with the approved organizations in their communities.
