Education Officer
(Reporting to the Director of Membership Services)
Position Status: Vacant effective September 1, 2025
Full-time, Temporary contract effective immediately to December 31, 2026
Classification Salary Level IV - $105,386 - $132,320 (Effective January 1, 2025)
This position will design, develop and deliver remote and in-person educational workshops; design and develop accompanying curriculum and educational materials for both technical and soft skill sets; evaluate student progress and continuously refine educational programming; and coordinate registration and maintain learning management system data.
Major responsibilities include:
Working with daily functional independence and with minimum supervision, the incumbent has the following duties and related tasks:
1. To design, develop and deliver remote and in-person educational workshops.
- Designs educational programming based on the directions of the Membership Services Unit Director or internal Education Working Group.
- Develops education programming and supporting materials in conjunction with fellow Education Officer(s) and internal or external subject matter experts, as required.
- Meets with Unit Director and/or Team Leads to seek direction and report progress.
- Provides regular progress updates to AMAPCEO’s internal Education Working Group.
- Liaises with various stakeholders and staff colleagues to coordinate scheduling of one-off or regularly occurring educational workshops.
- Delivers/ facilitates workshops of varying lengths and degrees of complexity to variable audiences (members, activists, and leaders).
2. To design and develop accompanying curriculum and educational materials for both technical and soft skill sets.
- Research applicable knowledge bases to identify programming objectives.
- Maps workshop components and curriculum to create intuitive agendas.
- Acquires and schedules technical facilitator assistance, as required.
- Research innovative and interactive methodologies for knowledge and skill transfer.
- Drafts pre-workshop syllabus for student preparation.
- Physically create classroom or online educational materials, exercises and evaluations. Work with Communications Officer colleagues in the production of materials.
- Coordinate special presentations from external facilitators or elected leadership.
3. To evaluate student progress and continuously refine educational programming.
- Conduct formal and informal evaluations of students.
- Provide positive support and corrective feedback.
- Reinforce knowledge bases e.g., collective agreements, fact sheets, etc.
- Provide advice on best Workplace Representative mentor matches and provide mentors with student appraisals.
- Maintain awareness of changes that impact programming – e.g., new contract language, new techniques etc.
- Evaluate programming post-delivery and refine areas of improvement.
- Provide program delivery experiences and recommendations to Unit Director and/or AMAPCEO’s internal Education Working Group.
4. To coordinate registration and maintain learning management system data.
- Coordinate student registration with Unit Director, various stakeholders and Administrative colleagues.
- Coordinate student mentorship, as applicable, with Labour Relations Services Unit.
- Generate reports using the Learning Management System and AMAPCEO membership database.
- Share student outcomes with applicable colleagues and stakeholders.
5. Other duties as assigned.
- Example: Assist with training of contract staff – workplace organizers or member engagement staff for bargaining.
Candidates should possess:
- A post-secondary degree preferably in Education or a related field of study and / or at least 5 years of related experience.
- Excellent understanding of adult education techniques and methods through demonstrated experience in a labour relations environment and/or in another adult learning environment; Subject matter expert level knowledge of curriculum.
- Knowledge of the various employers’ organizational and employment-related decision-making structures.
- Excellent time management skills, to work under minimal supervision, and to meet tight deadlines with demonstrated ability to organize work and prioritize well.
- Excellent communication, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills; Above average written and verbal presentation and facilitation skills to engage learners in the learning process; develop accurate and clearly written training and educational material.
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues; adapt the training to variety of learners; and focus on common learning objective(s).
- Proven administrative skills to design, coordinate, deliver training and educational programs.
- Ability to perform training and educational needs analysis in the identification and evaluation of a variety of training requirements; Ability to research, analyze and synthesize both qualitative and quantitative information.
- Ability to work in a collegial, fast-paced, multi-faceted office with a blend of elected officials, volunteers and professional staff.
- Ability to use PC/networked computer sufficient to manipulate database information, produce own correspondence, analyses and reports with text, numeric and graphic elements, and perform Internet searches.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel required and occasional requirement to work outside normal working hours.
