When Tuesday, Apr 14, 2026 - 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM

Equal Pay Day is dedicated to raising awareness of the gender pay gap by highlighting that women must work longer than men to earn the same amount.  In 2026, this important day is recognized on Tuesday April 14, 2026.

Why is Equal Pay Day important?

First recognized in Ontario in 2014, Equal Pay Day is dedicated to raising awareness of the gender pay gap. This day shift every year, marking the date an average woman would have to work into the new year to earn what an average man earned in the previous year.

The day is also a call to action to ensure equal pay for work of equal value, and acknowledge the pay gap when it intersects other forms of discrimination (ie. Racialized women, Indigenous women, immigrant women, and women with disabilities).

This year, the Equal Pay Coalition is highlighting workers in the “care economy”.

Visit equalpaycoalition.org to learn more about the organization and their planned rally in downtown Toronto on Tuesday April 14 at noon ET.

We would like to acknowledge Tkaronto, a Mohawk word meaning “the place in the water where the trees are standing.”

The AMAPCEO office is on the traditional unceded territory of Haudenosaunee speaking nations, including the Wendat, Seneca and Mohawk. These nations have been here since time immemorial and were in more recent times joined by the Mississaugas of the Credit.
