Labour Day first became a statutory holiday in Canada in 1894. Historically, workers have marked the day with parades, speeches, and picnics to promote working-class solidarity. Today, Labour Day remains a statutory holiday with many devoting the holiday to leisure activity and family time.
AMAPCEO leadership will be present in Guelph and Toronto but we encourage members to represent their union all over the province!
If you are interested in marching with AMAPCEO at the Toronto & York Region Labour Council (TYRLC) Labour Day Parade, visit this page.
