AMAPCEO continued its ongoing advocacy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic at a meeting with the OPS Employer yesterday, proposing several considerations designed to give members greater flexibility with their contract provisions.
Among the proposals the union tabled at the AMAPCEO Central Employee Relations Committee (ACERC) meeting were increased carry over capabilities for vacation credits and extended timeframes for certain medical benefit expenses. AMAPCEO also requested an extension to the current August 1, 2020 deadline to use Compensation Option Credits (COC) for those members who still have them.
“While many AMAPCEO members have used their credits to take time to look after loved ones or recharge their own batteries, many continue to work full-throttle,” President Dave Bulmer said. “Extending some of these deadlines will ensure credits don’t lapse and that important benefits aren’t missed out on.”
The OPS Employer is currently reviewing the proposals and discussions between the parties continue.
AMAPCEO has also started very preliminary talks with the OPS Employer on what a return to work might look like for members. The union’s top priority is members’ health, safety, and wellness. While the timing of a transition back to the workplace has yet to be determined, we expect to be able to share details as they become available over the coming weeks.
