AMAPCEO filed a policy dispute last September challenging the OPS Employer’s change to the treatment of Termination Pay during a salary continuance period.
We have previously reported that the Employer made a unilateral decision in August 2016 that should an employee elect to have their Termination Pay converted to a leave with pay (also known as salary continuance), their salary during the leave with pay would revert back to what it was on December 31, 2015.
AMAPCEO argued that the action was a violation of our Collective Agreement and the Employer ultimately agreed to reverse its August decision. A Memorandum of Settlement resolves the matter, with no negative impact to members going forward and a reversal of the impact to those members already affected.
The Employer and AMAPCEO are in the process of drafting a Fact Sheet to provide more details. A copy of the Memorandum of Settlement is available below.
