In a recent letter to Treasury Board Secretariat, AMAPCEO and OPSEU/SEFPO called on the OPS Employer to expand benefits coverage of GLP-1 and semaglutide medications by covering it for all uses prescribed by a patient’s physician, and by covering the generic, more affordable forms of the medication that are increasingly becoming available to patients.
Currently, the Employer only covers the use of the brand name medication Ozempic and only when prescribed to treat type two diabetes.
