Earlier this week, representatives from AMAPCEO including President Dave Bulmer and Vice-President Cynthia Watt attended the annual Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) Equality Day event in Toronto.
AMAPCEO is a proud sponsor of LEAF, an intersectional feminist organization dedicated to advancing gender equality for all women, girls, trans, and non-binary people by challenging laws, policies, and practices that discriminate against the equality guarantees enshrined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Each year, LEAF celebrates Equality Day, the day the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms’ section 15 equality guarantees came into force in 1985. This year, AMAPCEO representatives joined members of the legal, feminist, academic, activist, corporate, and labour communities, as well as the event’s host, journalist Supriya Dwivedi.
“It was a pleasure to join women of AMAPCEO and my fellow feminists in the labour movement for this event,” said Vice-President Watt. “The work LEAF does to advance equality and challenge unjust policies and practices is incredibly important, and I’m so glad AMAPCEO has the opportunity to support them.”
