Last week, members of CUPE Local 1750, also known as the Ontario Compensation Employees Union (OCEU), who work at Workplace Safety Insurance Board offices across the province, were forced to strike. OCEU members are striking for reasonable wage increases and a plan to immediately address significant workload issues.
AMAPCEO stands in solidarity with OCEU members, who perform a vital service for Ontario workers and their families by providing compensation for loss of earnings, benefits, or health care coverage to those who have suffered an injury or illness as a result of their job. They deserve a fair contract.
Earlier this week, AMAPCEO members showed our support of striking OCEU workers by joining pickets outside 1 Stone Road West in Guelph on Tuesday, and at 200 Front Street in Toronto on Wednesday, with AMAPCEO District Directors in attendance at both demonstrations.
AMAPCEO is encouraging members in University District to join us tomorrow, Thursday, May 29 at noon ET outside of 400 University to show their support for OCEU!
All AMAPCEO members can also stand in solidarity with your fellow union members by filling out this form and telling the WSIB employer to return to good faith bargaining.
“OCEU members work incredibly hard to ensure that Ontario’s workers and their families are supported,” said AMAPCEO President Dave Bulmer. “They deserve a contract with fair wage increases that addresses their own workplace health and safety concerns.”
