At its meeting on Tuesday, April 28th, the AMAPCEO Board of Directors unanimously endorsed the following motion of support for the “Save Canada Post” campaign initiated by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers:
“Resolved that:
- fair postage rates;
- accessible delivery for rural and urban Canadians;
- a greener post office, real public consultation on any changes to the postal service;
- reintroduction of postal financial services, as have been successfully implemented in Switzerland, France, the UK and Italy; and
- respect, fairness and decent working conditions for public servants employed at Canada Post;
- The AMAPCEO Board of Directors endorses the “Save Canada Post” campaign to save door-to-door delivery and invest in a public post office, including a commitment to:
- The AMAPCEO Board of Directors directs the President to work with the Executive Director to communicate AMAPCEO’s position to members and activists;
- AMAPCEO will provide “Save Canada Post” information and promotional materials (buttons, stickers, window/lawn signs) at upcoming events and conferences; and
- The President will write to the President, Canadian Union of Postal Workers to express AMAPCEO’s support for the campaign.”
The Board calls on AMAPCEO members to support this campaign. Download and post the CUPW "Save Door-to-Door" sign in your workspace and on your residence door.
