On Tuesday, April 21, AMAPCEO activists gathered at the Sheraton Centre for the Activist and Leaders Forum (ALF). Community leaders from across the union gathered to learn, connect, and collaborate. Focused on building capacity within AMAPCEO, the ALF equipped activists the tools they need to engage members and inspire new activists.
What was on the agenda?
The day started with an important update from President Dave Bulmer who spoke about the Return-to-Office edict and the Remote Work Works! Campaign.
A panel discussion on cultivating community followed featuring Delegates Maurice Coppin (Queen’s Park), Kellie Dinino (Western Ontario), Victoria Marshall (Midtown District Director, College of Midwives of Ontario), and Chet Ng (FSRA). The panelists shared experiences, practical tips, and lessons learned about building a sense of belonging and connection between AMAPCEO members.
The morning concluded with a keynote presentation from Chiara Padovani, a dedicated community organizer and co-founder of the York South-Weston (YSW) Tenant Union—one of Canada’s largest and most active tenant organizations. Padovani’s presentation focused on community building and how collective action can drive change.
In the afternoon, activists connected and collaborated in a workshop on sustainable leadership and strong workplace connections. Participants explored succession planning and the vital role of community in sustaining activist engagement.
