Update: If you submitted a claim for a continuous blood glucose monitor purchased between January 1, 2019 and April 26, 2020 and your claim was denied, you may resubmit for retroactive coverage before September 30, 2020. Otherwise, coverage begins April 27, 2020 for devices purchased on or after that date.
Members in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) and their dependents will now have benefits coverage for continuous blood glucose monitoring, after AMAPCEO successfully negotiated a settlement with the OPS Employer earlier this week.
“Regular blood sugar monitoring is critical when managing diabetes,” said President Dave Bulmer. “They’re an essential medical device that can prevent major complications and even save lives. I’m pleased we were able to secure coverage for AMAPCEO members and their families.”
Continous blood glucose monitors will be covered for members and their dependents starting April 27, 2020.
