Last week, AMAPCEO and the Ontario Public Service (OPS) Employer negotiated an extension of the sick leave ‘top up’ agreement for members in the OPS.
First reached last year, the agreement is designed to ensure no loss of income to members during the required 14-day quarantine should they test positive for COVID-19 and not have adequate sick leave or attendance credits to cover this period.
The new agreement is retroactive to July 1, 2021 and will now expire August 31, 2021. A copy of the agreement is available at amapceo.ca/ops.
The provisions of the new agreement are the same as before, although it is now only available to members who have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
An exception to this can be made for members who are not vaccinated on a Human Rights Code-protected ground. In this situation, members should contact an AMAPCEO Workplace Representative in the OPS for assistance.
As Ontario progresses through the government’s Roadmap to Reopen, AMAPCEO will continue to share important updates through the Member News e-newsletter and on our dedicated COVID-19 information hub at amapceo.ca/covid19.
