AMAPCEO has learned from the OPS Employer that Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has recently announced a temporary flat rate method to work from home expenses, in light of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under this temporary method, eligible employees can claim $2 for each day you worked from home due to the pandemic, to a maximum of $400. You are not required to keep documents to support your claim and are not required to obtain your Employer’s sign off on a T2200/T2200S form.
However, the regular T2200 process will still be available to those who wish to file a claim for greater expenses. Under this option, eligible employees will require supporting documentation and a signed T2200 or T2200S form.
