Earlier this week, AMAPEO and representatives from the Ontario Public Service (OPS) Employer held the first Joint Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee meeting.
The committee’s establishment was achieved in the most recent round of OPS bargaining. The committee’s aim will be to conduct a focused review of the OPS Collective Agreement and the impact of OPS Employer policies and programs on AMAPCEO-represented employees through an Equity Lens.
As a joint committee, it will also give AMAPCEO and the OPS Employer a venue to explore and collaborate on other areas of Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
While this inaugural meeting marks the fruition of years of AMAPCEO advocacy, the union is aware that this week’s event is only the first step in an ongoing process to identify and eliminate systemic barriers impacting equity-deserving groups in the public service.
