Lancy Cheng steps down; College Park by-election called

Lancy Cheng
Update

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

Lancy Cheng, Board Director for the College Park District, has announced that she is stepping down from the AMAPCEO Board to take a secondment to an acting IT Audit management position. The Elections and Credentials Committee has called a by-election to fill her position for the remainder of its original term (to December 31, 2019). The by-election will be held concurrently with the present nomination and election cycle for the other District elections, for which the nomination deadline is noon on Friday, October 26. Full information and a nomination form are posted on the AMAPCEO website.

In her letter of resignation addressed to President Dave Bulmer, Lancy wrote that she considers herself “extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with AMAPCEO under the new governance structure”, and expressed the hope that she can re-join AMAPCEO at a later date.  She thanked Dave for his leadership and guidance and also extended “sincere thanks” to Elissa Assayag, the Labour Relations Specialist who provides staff advice to the College Park District, for her “helpful and efficient assistance”.

In response, President Bulmer said he appreciated Lancy’s career decision and offered “a sincere thank you” for her almost two years of service on the Board of Directors, inviting her to return as an AMAPCEO activist at any time.

We would like to acknowledge Tkaronto, a Mohawk word meaning “the place in the water where the trees are standing.”

The AMAPCEO office is on the traditional unceded territory of Haudenosaunee speaking nations, including the Wendat, Seneca and Mohawk. These nations have been here since time immemorial and were in more recent times joined by the Mississaugas of the Credit.
