Last week, the Government of Ontario released the final report of the Changing Workplaces Review, the first serious analysis of Ontario’s employment and labour legislation since the 1990s. AMAPCEO submitted a number of recommendations during the research and consultation phase of the review and, while we are disappointed that the final report doesn’t afford greater protections to workers, we are pleased to note several positive proposals.
The review report consists of recommendations to the government, which is not required to accept the recommendations or to enact them in a timely manner. In a letter posted below, AMAPCEO President Dave Bulmer urges Kevin Flynn, Minister of Labour, to act quickly on the report and, in particular, to implement two long overdue recommendations that are important to AMAPCEO members.
