As part of the broader Queen’s Park Reconstruction Project, Macdonald Block in Toronto is now closed. As part of the project, the 1971 complex, which has never undergone a major renovation, will be extensively reconstructed. The complex includes the Macdonald Block Podium and the adjoining Ferguson, Hearst, Hepburn, and Mowat towers.
More than 3,600 workers have been displaced as a result of the project, and AMAPCEO has been working with the OPS Employer to make the transition as smooth as possible.
In conjunction with a Community Benefits Agreement, AMAPCEO successfully advocated for preservation of the Queen’s Park Childcare Centre, a licenced not-for-profit that provides space for 80 children up to age 5. After 33 years in the Queen’s Park complex, the Centre will relocate to the Frost building in June.
