On September 30, as we learn, reflect, and honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, AMAPCEO encourages all members to continue walking the shared path toward equity, healing, and meaningful reconciliation.
We will also observe Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters. We remember Phyllis Webstad, a Residential School Survivor, who shared how her new orange shirt was taken from her on her first day at the Indian Residential School. Today, the orange shirt stands as a symbol of love, hope, and remembrance for all children affected by residential schools.
In our local communities, let’s come together — with humility and intention — by joining events that honour Survivors, their families, and the communities who were impacted, and who continue to be impacted, by the Indian Residential School system.
Our presence, our learning, and our commitment matter.
