You see their masked faces going viral on social media, urging you to stay home. Whether you pound on pans from your windows, or simply send a text to check in on friends who are nurses, make sure you mark National Nursing Week (May 11–17.)
Nursing Week is a time to recognize and praise nurses for their dedication and contributions to the well-being of Canadians, especially apt this year during the pandemic. This year’s theme is “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Nursing the World to Health” to illustrate how nurses are central to addressing a wide range of health challenges.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also declared 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife in honour of Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday anniversary.
