Elections took place on Saturday, November 28, at the AMAPCEO Annual Delegates’ Conference (ADC). All terms are for two years and begin on January 1st, 2016.
Here are the results:
Cynthia Watt was elected as Vice-President, in an election with incumbent Sally Jurcaba. Watt is currently the Chair of the Education/Training, Colleges and Universities Chapter.
Glynn Robinson was elected as Secretary, in an election with fellow Director Dianne Colville Lee. Due to this election, Robinson, who is a former Chapter Chair in Environment, Energy and Infrastructure, will resign from his Director at Large position on the Board and there will be a by-election to fill out the remaining one year of his original term. Nominations will open in December and Delegates elected to this ADC will be asked to participate in an online election in January, in time for the new Director to attend the first meeting of the Board at the end of January.
New Directors at Large elected to the Board are: Peter Dewar and Neil MacAskill, in an election with former Board member Jim Dawson and Sault Ste. Marie Chapter Chair Paul Glassford. Dewar is a former Chapter Chair (Attorney-General and Aboriginal Affairs) and a former Chair of the ADC’s Elections and Credentials Committee. MacAskill is currently the Ottawa Chapter Chair and a member of the Board’s Finance Committee and the ADC’s Resolutions Committee.
Five members were elected to the Elections and Credentials Committee (ECC) from a field of ten candidates who were nominated:
Ron Burwell
Bryan Card
Ron Grisbrook
Darlene Jackson
Dane Minns
Many thanks to outgoing ECC members Jamal Hassan, Debra McCracken and Linda Sullivan for their service on the committee.
Three members were elected by acclamation, prior to the ADC, to the Audit Committee. Parmod Chhabra, Paul Hoskin, and Rachel Kukulewich will join incumbents Abdullah BaMasoud and Prokash Mondal, whose terms continue for another year.
AMAPCEO would like to congratulate all of those elected and to acknowledge and thank all of the candidates for their energy, commitment and ideas that help to keep AMAPCEO moving forward.
It is also worth noting that this was the first year we used electronic voting at the ADC, resulting in a very quick election process. Everything went without a hitch, so e-voting is expected to be back next year.
President Dave Bulmer thanked those Board members who will conclude their terms at the end of December.
On behalf of the membership, Dave Bulmer paid tribute to Sally Jurcaba, who will step down after three years on the Board, the last two as Vice-President; Barbara Gough, who has been on the Board for the past eight years, serving as Secretary since 2009; and Directors Earl Alexander and Leslie Barber, both completing two years as Board members with Earl having served as Chair of the Board.
