MAPCEO is pleased to announce the three winners of its fifth annual Student Essay Contest.
- First place ($750): Shruthi Srinivasan of Glenforest Secondary School, Mississauga for “The Value of Public Service: Why Should it be Protected and Improved?”
- Second Place ($500): Miao Wang of Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy, Markham for “Serving the Public Service”
- Third Place ($300): Maeva Ma-youh Killah of Central Peel Secondary School, Brampton for “What Can be Done to Improve and Protect Public Service in Ontario?”
Congratulations to all three winners for producing exemplary work! Not only does each essay demonstrate exceptional research, creative thinking and an impressive writing style, the writers also put forth compelling support for the value of public service today.
Our first place winner, Shruthi Srinivasan (pictured on right), will be entering grade twelve in September and plans to use her scholarship money toward her university tuition. She hopes to attend the University of Waterloo for Engineering.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the AMAPCEO members who volunteered their time to act as judges for the contest: Barbara Gough, Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities; Sara Nemec, Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services; and Nathalie Breton, Ministry of Community and Social Services.
This is the fifth year that AMAPCEO has offered its essay contest, which is open to any full-time secondary school student in Ontario. Our principal objectives in establishing the contest were to promote exemplary student scholarship and to encourage students to think critically and creatively about the important role of public service in Ontario.
Thank you to all of the students who submitted entries to the competition, and thanks also to the teachers who encouraged them. AMAPCEO wishes you success in all of your future pursuits. Have a safe and enjoyable summer!
