Long-time activist Donna Davenport has announced her retirement from the OPS and her resignation from the AMAPCEO Board of Directors, effective December 31, 2017. She is currently the Director on the Board representing the Northern Ontario District, and her resignation will trigger a by-election to fill the remaining year of her original term of office (January through December, 2018).
The Elections and Credentials Committee has included the by-election in the current nomination period for the other Board positions whose terms are normally scheduled to expire on December 31, with a nomination deadline of Friday, October 27.
A trainer in the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services based in Thunder Bay, Donna Davenport has been active in AMAPCEO for over a decade, serving as a Delegate to the annual convention, as a member of the Elections and Credentials Committee and as Chapter Chair of the former Northwestern Ontario Chapter.
President Dave Bulmer, expressing appreciation for her service, noted that her “commitment to the union has been unwavering”, generating widespread respect for her ability to advocate on behalf of her members. In particular, he observed that her work on the Board of Directors encompassed the two critical roles that our new governance structure requires of Board members: “someone who can coordinate local activities at the District level [while also] deliberating on union-wide policy at the Board table”.
We wish Donna all the best in her retirement when she leaves at the end of the year.
