AMAPCEO members in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) have chosen to ratify the new collective agreement. The vote was 87.2% for yes and 12.8% for no.
The new agreement will last three years—from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2028.
Implementation of the new agreement will begin shortly. We’ll be updating relevant Fact Sheets and provide you with information on the implementation process over the next while. Please keep an eye on your inbox and ensure your personal information is up to date.
This vote result is confirmation that this is a fair deal for these uncertain times. While the federal public service is looking at massive layoffs, we won a fair deal that protects public services and does right by the professionals who deliver them. All without having to take job action.
The wage increases we won outpace inflation and provide stability in advance of a forecasted economic downturn later this year.
While the Employer would not budge on most paramedical benefits, we won dramatic improvements to your mental health care coverage and a nearly 40% increase to your flexible Health Care Spending Account.
Access to remote work was a top issue for many members in this round of bargaining, and the Employer entered negotiations determined to eliminate your flexible work provisions entirely. While the union has no control over the Employer’s policy on in-office days, what we can control—and what we have successfully defended—is your ability to seek exceptions to that policy through an alternative work arrangement. We preserved your ability to have that request considered in good faith, and most importantly, we held onto your right to file a dispute if your request is unreasonably denied.
Fixed-term contract workers will now receive more access to vacation and sick leave, earlier, under the new contract, and new provisions that will see more stability and continuity in their work.
The Board of Directors thanks your OPS Bargaining Team, our professional staff, and legal counsel for all their hard work leading up to, and during, this round of bargaining.
And we thank all of those AMAPCEO members who attended a bargaining information session, wore blue on Wednesdays, decorated your workspace, and showed your support to your bargaining team.
Today’s successful ratification is an important reminder that, together, we are the union. AMAPCEO is not just your bargaining team, your Board of Directors, or even our most dedicated activists—AMAPCEO is all of us, standing together for better.
Let’s continue to stand together, support one another, and build an even stronger union for all.
Stronger together,
AMAPCEO Board of Directors
