As he prepares to conclude his term as AMAPCEO President at the end of 2026, Dave Bulmer is reflecting on the issues that will shape the future of Ontario's public sector.
In a recent interview with The Trillium, Bulmer pointed to the growing use of artificial intelligence, and the evolution of workplace flexibility as the two most significant developments facing workers.
"AI is here, and AI is evolving every day," Bulmer said, noting the importance of ensuring appropriate safeguards accompany the introduction of new technologies.
Bulmer also expressed confidence that hybrid work will remain an important feature of the modern workplace, describing it as a lasting change in how work is organized and delivered.
Reflecting on his 12 years as president, Bulmer highlighted AMAPCEO's growth and the labour movement's successful challenge to Bill 124 as the defining moments of his tenure. He also emphasized the importance of protecting and strengthening the public service.
"Public services are an investment, not an expense," he said.
As AMAPCEO prepares to elect its next president, Bulmer said the union must continue its strong advocacy for members while adapting to emerging workplace challenges.
