AMAPCEO’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Rob Smalley has accepted the Executive Committee’s offer of employment as Chief Operating Officer.
In addition to his Labour Relations Director role, Smalley will assume the position of AMAPCEO’s Chief Operating Officer on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.
Smalley is a 21-year veteran of AMAPCEO, having held his current position as Director of Labour Relations Services for 15 years. Prior to that, in the early ‘90s, he was Assistant to the Minister of Health, responsible for policy and legislative affairs, before becoming a Manager of Legislation Policy in the Ministry. He also served as Acting Director of Operations at the Ontario Association of Midwives, before joining AMAPCEO in 1998. At AMAPCEO, Rob has been the primary architect of the union’s much-envied approach to dispute resolutions and labour relations, played a lead role in several rounds of bargaining with AMAPCEO’s OPS and BPS units, and crafted a good deal of our the union’s internal governance policy.
President Dave Bulmer welcomed Smalley to his new role, saying “I’ve personally known Rob to be a strong operational leader, a voice of reason and sound counsel, and a genuine team player. I have every confidence we will be better for this new relationship and I look forward to working with our evolving senior management team as we transition over the next few months.”
