Dear AMAPCEO Members: In just a few short weeks, Canadians will go to the polls in what is shaping up to be an historic election.
As such, I am writing to you and our entire membership, on behalf of our Board of Directors, to encourage you to be a part of the federal election by casting a vote on Monday, October 19.
AMAPCEO remains non-partisan and is neither endorsing candidates nor a party. Whoever you vote for is your choice. All we ask is that you exercise your democratic right to vote.
As unionized a worker, the issues at play in this election may seem a bit distant from your daily work, but decisions made at the federal level actually impact our bargaining of terms and conditions of employment here in Ontario. What gets eliminated federally, soon does the same provincially.
Likewise, we all pride ourselves on being Public Servants and providing public service. Something that becomes more and more difficult as services are underfunded and understaffed, and ultimately eroded for the next generation. Once again, what budget cuts occur federally, will soon transfer or trickle down to provincial and municipal jurisdictions in short order.
So today, I am asking you to join me and our Board of Directors by voting in the upcoming federal election. When you mark your ballot, please consider your many personal interests as an employee in the public service, as a union member, and as a citizen.
Together, we can send an important message about the value of public services, workers rights and unions in Canada and together, we can make a difference.
Sincerely,
Dave Bulmer, President
