We have a tentative OPS deal!

Update

Monday, July 28, 2025

We are pleased to report that we have reached a tentative agreement with the Ontario Public Service (OPS) Employer.

If you vote to ratify the agreement, it will last three years—from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2028.

Your OPS Bargaining Team and the AMAPCEO Board of Directors unanimously endorse this tentative deal and are asking you to vote YES to ratify the agreement.

The tentative agreement includes:

  • Respectable wage increases: A compensation increase of 7% over three years.
  • Maintained flexible work: The employer fought hard to take away our flexible work provisions, but we successfully defended your right to request an alternative working arrangement, have that request considered in good faith, and dispute a denial if you receive one.
  • Significant improvements to health benefits, including a 38% increase to the annual Health Care Spending Account (representing an additional $200 per year) and expanded mental health coverage.
  • Improved fairness for fixed-term employees, including immediate access to five days’ vacation and attendance credits.

There is no doubt that these are challenging times. The economic future of Ontario is uncertain, and we are all experiencing the unpredictability of our new economic reality.

The Employer sought to capitalize on this uncertainty—they started off negotiations wanting to short-change AMAPCEO members and take away our flexible work provisions.

They were insistent, but we stood together and held them off.

We stood together and won a fair deal that protects public services and does right by the professionals who deliver them. All without having to take job action.

We stood together to defend our gold-standard flexible work provisions. The Employer wanted complete control over where—and when—you can work. But we ensured that, no matter what the Employer dictates, you can request an alternative working arrangement, and your request must be considered fairly. And if your request is denied, we preserved your right to file a dispute.

We stood together and secured a significant increase to your Health Care Spending Account, and an expansion of mental health care coverage.

We stood together for more fairness and stability for contract workers.

Your Bargaining Team was able to secure these wins because they knew you had their backs. Every poster you displayed in the workplace, every photo you took wearing blue and standing with your colleagues—all of these demonstrations of solidarity proved to the Employer that AMAPCEO members were united in their demand for a fair contract.

Now, let’s seal the deal with a strong YES vote.

Stronger together,

Your AMAPCEO Board of Directors

We would like to acknowledge Tkaronto, a Mohawk word meaning “the place in the water where the trees are standing.”

The AMAPCEO office is on the traditional unceded territory of Haudenosaunee speaking nations, including the Wendat, Seneca and Mohawk. These nations have been here since time immemorial and were in more recent times joined by the Mississaugas of the Credit.
