December 1 is World AIDS Day. First observed in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever international day for global health. World AIDS Day provides the opportunity to honour, remember, and celebrate those who lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses and those who continue to live with HIV and AIDS. It is also a time to advocate for the fundamental rights of people living with HIV to healthcare, dignity, and to a life free from stigma.
