Climate change is a global crisis, but its impacts are already being felt here in Ontario with more frequent extreme weather events causing economic and social damage.
If left unchecked, climate change will impact all areas of life, increasing housing and food insecurity, threatening jobs, and putting our health at risk. Tackling climate change requires unprecedented reductions of greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors of society, transforming how we live, work and move in Ontario.
As a Policy Advisor with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, Shauna’s goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help Ontario transition to a low-carbon economy. This means working with partners in the public and private sectors to find industry- and community-specific ways to reduce emissions. From funding municipal climate projects, to analysing policies that help private industry sustainably run their businesses, Shauna works to design programs that are specific, relevant, and effective.
Shauna’s latest focus is looking at how to make the financial sector greener, and how to ensure businesses and investors take climate change into account when making financial decisions.
