The AMAPCEO Course Catalogue includes educational offerings available to all signed AMAPCEO members, as well as those specific to Workplace Representatives, Health & Safety Representatives, and Employee Relations Committee (ERC) Representatives.
The full suite of the union’s educational programs is a mix of virtual and in-person training, including full courses, information and question-and-answer sessions about members’ collective agreements, training for volunteer activist roles, and more!

AMAPCEO: My Union
AMAPCEO: My Union is one of the foundational courses of our education program. This 15-minute course covers the important information that members, both new and old, need to know about our union.
All members are strongly encouraged to take this course. It is required for Workplace Representatives.

Equity and Inclusion: Activate Your Power
Equity & Inclusion: Activate Your Power is the second foundational course of our education program. This 45-minute course serves as an introduction to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) terms, principles, and best practices, and brings AMAPCEO’s Equity Statement to life. This course should only be launched after completing AMAPCEO: My Union.
All members are strongly encouraged to take this course. It is required for Workplace Representatives.

Call It Out
Developed by the Ontario Human Rights Commission, this 30-minute interactive course offers a foundation for learning about race, racial discrimination, and human rights protections under Ontario's Human Rights Code. The course offers an explanation and historical overview of racism and racial discrimination, and provides approaches to preventing and addressing racial discrimination.

Workplace Representative Training
Supporting Fixed-Term Employees
This 30-minute course is designed to provide AMAPCEO Workplace Representatives in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) with the information they need to represent and provide the best possible service to fixed-term employees.

Workplace Representative Core Training
This three-day workshop, offered three times per year, is required for those seeking to become a Workplace Representative (WPR).
Participants will learn:
- the role, relationships, and rights of the WPR in AMAPCEO
- AMAPCEO’s dispute resolution process and an interest-based approach to problem-solving
- how to thoroughly investigate member complaints; and
- how to effectively represent members in front of management.
Eligible WPRs will receive an email informing them of upcoming training dates and inviting them to register for the training once their application has been approved and they have completed the following prerequisites:

Advanced Workplace Representative Training
Workplace Representatives (WPRs) must complete two Advanced Training courses after their year-long participation in the mentorship program and before the end of their three-year appointed term as a WPR. The two courses, offered twice a year, are:
- Interest-based approaches to problem solving
- Dealing with difficult behaviours
Eligible WPRs will receive an email informing them of upcoming training dates and inviting them to register for training on a priority basis, with priority given to WPR Mentors and those WPRs nearing the end of their three-year term. The prerequisites for advanced training include:
- WPR Core Training
- Both the AMAPCEO: My Union and Equity & Inclusion: Activate Your Power online courses

Workplace Representative Mentorship Training
This workshop for those selected to be trained as Workplace Representative (WPRs) Mentors.
The mentorship program is designed to provide mentees (i.e. newly trained WPRs) with a peer mentor who can assist and support them during their first year in the role. Participants in this training will review the roles and responsibilities of being a WPR mentor, the structure of the mentorship program, and reflect on what makes a good mentor.
AMAPCEO invites a select number of experienced WPRs to participate in this training and become a mentor. The prerequisites for mentorship training include:
- Experience as a Workplace Representative
- All advanced training and core training courses
- One mental health course
- Both the AMAPCEO: My Union and Equity & Inclusion: Activate Your Power online courses

Annual Workplace Representatives' Conference
This annual conference provides an opportunity for WPRs to network, hear from leading experts, and participate in skills-based workshops focused on increasing knowledge and skills required to represent members with varying, and often complex, needs.
Workplace Representatives will receive an email inviting them to register for the conference ahead of the scheduled date.

Health and Safety Representative Training
Introduction to Health and Safety at AMAPCEO
This full-day training is required for Health and Safety Representatives and serves as an introduction to the world of health and safety and explores basic concepts such as:
- the role and responsibilities of AMAPCEO Health and Safety Representative;
- the rights and responsibilities of workplace Health & Safety Committees;
- how to identify hazards in the workplace; and
- how to complete a workplace inspection.
Eligible Health and Safety Representatives will receive an email informing them of upcoming training dates and inviting them to register for the training once their application has been approved and they have completed the following prerequisites:
- Both the AMAPCEO: My Union and Equity & Inclusion: Activate Your Power online courses
Biannual Health, Safety, and Wellness Conference
This biannual conference gives Health and Safety Representatives an opportunity to share their experiences, hear from field experts, and participate in skills-based workshops aimed at increasing their knowledge and awareness about issues and best practices in Health Safety and Wellness in the workplace.
Health and Safety Representatives will receive an email inviting them to register for the conference ahead of the scheduled date.

Employee Relations Committee (ERC) Representative Training
Employee Relations Committee Representative Training or “Blue” training
A two-day introductory training required for newly appointed Employee Relations Committee (ERC) Representatives. Newly appointed ERC reps will be invited to register ahead of the training dates.
Participants will learn:
- the roles and responsibilities of each member of the AMAPCEO ERC team;
- the importance of teamwork, and tips for building strong relationships;
- how to prepare for, conduct, and debrief from a committee meeting;
- tools of empowerment and persuasion;
- how to avoid common disruptive employer behaviours; and
- how communication methods, visibility in the workplace, succession planning, and the flow of information contribute to a flourishing ERC.
Prerequisites:
- At least one year of experience as a WPR
- WPR Core Training
- Both the AMAPCEO: My Union and Equity & Inclusion: Activate Your Power online courses

Understanding the AMAPCEO Budget
Understanding the AMAPCEO Budget is an essential course for all new AMAPCEO Delegates, required under the Delegate Education Policy.
Eligible Delegates will receive an email inviting them to register for the training. They will have until the end of the 2024 Annual Delegates' Conference to complete the course.
Participants will learn:
- The budget creation and approval process
- How AMAPCEO funds our operational expenses
- The different expense categories the union uses
- Our different revenue streams
- Our contingency and reserve funds
