The union representing more than 14,000 of Ontario’s professional employees is looking to an even greener future, with its Board of Directors passing a new Environmental Statement at its last meeting.
“The climate crisis is a fundamental issue of our time, and I believe that we have an individual and collective responsibility to act,” AMAPCEO President Dave Bulmer said. “This new statement recognizes the work that our union has already undertaken and reaffirms our commitment to do more.”
The Statement commits the union to continuing to partner with and support organizations dedicated to environmental justice and to contribute to public dialogue around this issue. It also identifies a number of measures the union is taking, and will take, to help preserve natural resources and prevent pollution.
The Statement is the result of a Board-supported resolution passed by union Delegates at the 2019 Annual Delegates’ Conference (ADC).
The Board of Directors is also revising the union’s current Investment Policy to include Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) factors to ensure it is more socially conscious. Delegates will receive the revised Investment Policy at this year’s ADC.
