Fixed-term (FXT) AMAPCEO members in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) who test positive for COVID-19 and for whom a 10-day self-isolation period would result in a loss of pay are eligible for top-up payments from the OPS Employer.
“I’m pleased that we were able to negotiate this for our most precariously-employed members,” said AMAPCEO President Dave Bulmer. “FXT members are not entitled to the same sick pay protections as their permanent counterparts. This new provision will help FXT members who fall ill with COVID-19 and help keep workplaces safer for everyone.”
FXT members must provide confirmation of their diagnosis and/or symptoms to the Employer and must first use their available attendance credits to cover their time off. Top-up payments are to ensure that fixed-term members maintain the income they would have received based on their regular schedule.
The agreement is retroactive to January 1, 2022 and extends to March 31, 2022.
