It’s a sad day in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) when the Employer is unable to honour its most fundamental obligations.
That day is today.
We’ve learned that not only has the OPS Employer still not confirmed a date for paying out the Bill 124 remedy but they’re also planning to delay the April 1, 2024 1% wage increases that we negotiated 18 months ago.
This is unacceptable.
Bill 124 was a slap in the face to the hardworking professionals who serve the people of Ontario day in and day out. Delaying not only the Bill 124 remedy but also these wage increases is adding insult to injury.
Enough is enough.
These increases are what our union fought for throughout a protracted legal campaign. They are part of what we all fought for in the actions we took—wearing blue, participating in coordinated AMAPCEO coffee breaks, and using our backgrounds and email signatures—throughout a challenging period of collective bargaining in the fall of 2022.
The Employer must:
- Immediately process the 1% across-the-board wage increases effective April 1, 2024.
- Be transparent with AMAPCEO members about when we should now expect our Bill 124 remedy backpay.
AMAPCEO is taking swift legal action. We are filing an Association Dispute against the OPS Employer because we believe delaying this third installment of our negotiated wage increases is a breach of our Collective Agreement.
You can help keep the pressure on the Employer and make your voice heard by signing the AMAPCEO petition for immediate payment and transparency.
It is time to make it clear to the OPS Employer that we will not hesitate to stand up for ourselves.
As always, we are stronger together.
