The next pay day for the Ontario Public Service (OPS) is Thursday, May 9—a pay day when people’s take-home pay should be at least 1% higher than what they will be.
That’s because the OPS Employer announced last week they’re delaying the implementation of our negotiated 1% across-the-board wage increases effective April 1, 2024 and the backpay our OPS members are owed for steamrolling our rights with Bill 124.
We’ve got the Pay Day Blues.
We asked you to sign our petition to let the Employer know that AMAPCEO members deserve better. More than 6,300 of you have done so thus far—that’s about 40% of our members in the OPS. (If you haven’t signed, there’s still time to do so.
Whenever we believe the Employer has violated our collective agreement, we’re going to hold them accountable.
We’re pursuing legal action over the Employer’s decision to delay our negotiated wage increases.
This is the same successful tactic we’ve used to:
- force the OPS Employer to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
- expand medical benefits coverage,
- and overturn Bill 124 itself
But these things can take some time.
Which is why we’re asking you to take action once again.
On Thursday, May 9, let’s show the OPS Employer that we have the Pay Day Blues. On that day, wear AMAPCEO navy blue and take a few minutes to gather your colleagues to snap a group photo to send to activist@amapceo.on.ca.
A contract is a contract. On Thursday, May 9, let’s wear blue and show the OPS Employer that we expect them to honour their obligations.
Stronger together,
Dave Bulmer
