I’m pleased to report that our continued advocacy on the Bill 124 remedy continues to pay off.
Starting tomorrow, some AMAPCEO members in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) will finally start to see the retroactive payments from the Bill 124 remedy in their accounts.
The OPS Employer has confirmed that it has started processing these payments with the September 12, 2024 pay period and that they will continue into the fall. They’re being processed in batches, so it may take a few pay periods until the OPS Employer processes yours.
The team has updated the Bill 124 Remedy Fact Sheet on the AMAPCEO website with the latest information. It includes answers to your most frequently asked questions, including what to do if your payments are inaccurate.
These payments are part of a remedy that AMAPCEO secured to make up for the unconstitutional Bill 124. They’re coming months earlier than originally anticipated because AMAPCEO members across the province stood together to demand better.
The government should never have steamrolled our constitutionally protected right to free and fair collective bargaining. But we stood together, and we won.
The government shouldn’t have fought public sector workers in court and wasted untold millions appealing the decision. But we stood together, and we won.
The government shouldn’t have dragged its heels to make AMAPCEO members whole when we sought recourse for lost wages thanks to Bill 124. But we stood together, and we won.
The OPS Employer should never have unilaterally delayed our negotiated wage increases. But we stood together to demand better, and we won.
We’re not quite at the finish line, but we should take pride in what we’ve done by standing together over the last six years. We've shown the Employer that we will fight for what we deserve, and when the next round of bargaining begins early next year, we’ll show them again.
Stronger together,
Dave Bulmer
President/CEO
